Gorringe's has moved its Tunbridge Wells valuation office to 16 Mount Ephraim, with free parking outside. Drop-in valuations run Tuesday afternoons and all day Thursday.

Gorringe’s, the Lewes auction house, has moved its Tunbridge Wells office to 16 Mount Ephraim. The firm announced the move on Saturday 24 October and says the new office has free parking directly outside. (Gorringe’s, A new chapter for Gorringe’s in Tunbridge Wells)

Until now the office was at Grosvenor House, Grosvenor Park, TN1 2BF. That was the address on the firm’s contact page in May. (Gorringe’s contact page, archived 8 May 2026)

The phone number stays the same.

Who runs it

The office is led by Tom Blest, Gorringe’s Head of Valuations for Kent. He is an auctioneer and general valuer and joined the firm in April 2025.

Gorringe’s gave two recent Kent consignments as examples of what passes through the office:

  • a pastel portrait of Anne, 1st Countess Clancarty, by Robert Healy, which sold for £16,000
  • an Art Deco diamond and onyx ring with a Peruzzi-cut diamond of around 1.50 carats, which made £5,000

Executive Director Oliver Searle is the founder’s great-grandson. “We’re investing in people, expertise and places, so that Gorringe’s can stand alongside the country’s finest auction houses,” he said. “Our new Tunbridge Wells office is the next step.”

Nearly 30 years in the town

Roland Gorringe founded the firm in Lewes in 1929. The auctions themselves are still held there, at 15 North Street. The Tunbridge Wells office has served Kent clients for nearly 30 years, the firm says.

It holds more than 60 sales a year. They cover fine art, furniture, jewellery, silver, watches, ceramics, Asian art, wine and spirits, and books and manuscripts. A weekly House and Garden sale takes everyday contents.

The firm says the move is part of a wider investment. It has added valuers in paintings, jewellery, books and manuscripts, and wine and spirits, and appointed a new Head of Valuations for London.

What it means for you

  • Going for a valuation: head to 16 Mount Ephraim, not Grosvenor Park. Drop in on a Tuesday afternoon or a Thursday, or book another time on 01892 556860.
  • Parking: the firm says there is free parking at the entrance. That is easier than the town centre, where council car parks charge by the hour.
  • Selling: the office values and takes in items, but the sales are held in Lewes. You can bid online through the firm’s website.
