How often violence is reported in the town centre
Police.uk publishes street-level figures two months behind, so the latest month is August 2026. In the 12 months from September 2025 to August 2026, police recorded 868 violence and sexual offences within a mile of the High Street, between 59 and 95 a month. December 2025 was the highest month (police.uk open data).
Of those, 36 were mapped on or near the High Street itself. Police.uk places each report at the nearest of a set of anonymous map points, not at its exact address, so treat that figure as a rough guide to the street rather than a precise count.
