Father Christmas is at Royal Victoria Place's Enchanted Cabin from 14 November, from £15 a child with a gift, and at Bewl Water on 12 dates from 28 November.

Father Christmas has two confirmed homes near Tunbridge Wells this year. The Enchanted Cabin at Royal Victoria Place opens on Saturday 14 November, from £15 a child with a gift. Christmas at Bewl Water, near Lamberhurst, runs a much longer elf-led quest on 12 dates from Saturday 28 November to Christmas Eve. The Polar Express from Tunbridge Wells West also ends with Santa handing every child a bell.

The Enchanted Cabin, Royal Victoria Place

The shopping centre’s grotto returns after last Christmas and runs from Saturday 14 November to Thursday 24 December. Royal Victoria Place describes it as “a cosy, personal meet & greet with Father Christmas, guided by his jolly (and occasionally mischievous!) elves”. It is produced by Once Upon a Wish Events.

  • Price: “Tickets are from £15 per child, including a special gift that your child can choose for themselves.”
  • Booking: through the link on the centre’s page.
  • Where: inside Royal Victoria Place, TN1 2SS. Car park charges for the town centre are on our parking page.

The cabin opens on the same day the centre switches on its Christmas lights, at 4.30pm on Saturday 14 November, so the first day will be the busiest. Our switch-on page has that day’s programme.

Christmas at Bewl Water

Bewl Water’s Christmas event is a ticketed, timed experience rather than a walk-in grotto. Its 2026 version is called Santa’s Quest. Families follow Santa’s elves through woodland by the reservoir, with live shows, workshops and a private visit with Santa at the end.

The 2026 dates, from Bewl’s own page:

Month Dates
November Saturday 28, Sunday 29
December Saturday 5, Sunday 6, Saturday 12, Sunday 13
December Saturday 19 to Thursday 24, every day

(Christmas at Bewl Water)

What a ticket includes, per the organiser:

  • the quest itself, which lasts “just under two hours”, with live panto-style performances by the elves;
  • biscuit decorating at Rosemary’s Bakery, sleigh ornament making at the Elves’ Workshop, reindeer food at Prancer’s Pantry, and Dash’s Post Office for letters to Santa;
  • a private visit with Santa for your booking, who will know each child’s name, age and interests from the booking;
  • a gift from the Toy Exchange for each child;
  • access to the food court and play area, where food, drink and the official photo cost extra.

Bewl recommends allowing three hours in all.

The Mrs Claus Enhanced Experience costs more. It adds a meet-and-greet with Mrs Claus, a souvenir photo of the Santa visit, priority access to the workshops and performances, a lanyard and a souvenir Santa Key.

Prices are not published on the event site. They appear only when you choose a date in the booking system, which runs on DigiTickets. The published rules are:

  • every visitor needs a ticket, adults included, and children must be with someone over 18;
  • babies in arms can have a My First Christmas ticket, with a toy and a personalised Santa moment;
  • an Essential Companion ticket is half price, one per booking, with an Access Card, PIP, DLA or Attendance Allowance shown in advance;
  • groups of six or more get 10% off;
  • tickets are non-refundable unless you buy TicketPlan cover when booking;
  • the age recommendation is 1 to 11.

Getting there and parking: Bewl Water, Bewlbridge Lane, Lamberhurst, TN3 8JH, just off the A21. One free parking ticket comes with each booking. The car park uses number-plate cameras, so give the right registration when you book. Extra parking tickets can be bought. The event is cashless, dogs are not allowed inside it, and most of it is under cover but not all of it is heated. Bewl asks you to arrive five minutes before your slot and warns that late arrivals may be refused or miss part of the quest.

The Polar Express, Tunbridge Wells West

The Spa Valley Railway’s Polar Express ride ends with Santa giving each child “the first gift of Christmas: a beautiful silver sleigh bell” (Spa Valley Railway). It runs on 32 days from Friday 6 November to Wednesday 30 December, from Tunbridge Wells West station. Adults and children pay the same, and there is no parking at the station. Every date and start time is on our Polar Express page.

Free: Mrs Christmas at Royal Victoria Place

Not Santa, but free and with no booking. Mrs Christmas and Jovie the Elf tell a Christmas story every Saturday and Sunday from 14 November to 20 December. Sessions start at 10am, 11.15am, 1pm, 2.15pm and 3.30pm and last 30 minutes. Afterwards children can have a photo with them at the centre’s giant teddy bear (Royal Victoria Place).

Still to be confirmed

  • Bewl Water prices. Not on the event site; we will add them if Bewl publishes them.
  • Other grottos. We found no 2026 listing from a garden centre, school or church grotto in the borough yet. Organisers can send details to hello@twellstoday.co.uk and we will add them.

The rest of the season is on our pages for the Christmas market, Christmas at Bedgebury, Scotney Castle’s Christmas and the pantomime. Road closures are on roadworks and travel.
