The one date being repeated for the switch-on, 15 November, is a Sunday in 2026 and comes from a stale page. The Pantiles market and the grotto are confirmed.

Nobody has announced a 2026 Christmas lights switch-on for Tunbridge Wells, and the one date circulating does not survive a look at a calendar. Visit Tunbridge Wells tells readers to “mark your calendars for 15 November” and see Royal Victoria Place’s lights switched on. 15 November 2026 is a Sunday.

The switch-on has been a Saturday teatime event. It was Saturday 16 November 2024 at 5pm, with Ore Oduba, then starring in the Assembly Hall panto, and Santa doing the honours (KentOnline). 15 November was a Saturday in 2025. Read together, the “15 November” line on the tourism site is last year’s date left in place, not this year’s.

Royal Victoria Place’s own news page backs that up. Its most recent festive post is a look back at Christmas 2025, published in January 2026, which describes “our Christmas Lights Switch-On, bringing Tunbridge Wells together to officially welcome the season”. There is no 2026 announcement on it (Royal Victoria Place).

If the pattern holds, the likely 2026 dates are Saturday 14 or Saturday 21 November. Neither is confirmed and we are not treating either as a fact.

What is actually confirmed for 2026

Three things in the town centre have real, first-party 2026 dates.

The Pantiles Boutique Christmas Markets: 13 November to 24 December

The Pantiles has published its 2026 events list, and the Christmas markets run 13 November to 24 December 2026, with wooden chalets along the colonnade (The Pantiles). Two other market dates sit either side of them:

  • Pantiles Market, 7 and 8 November.
  • Calverley Precinct Market, 29 November and 20 December.

The Enchanted Cabin at Royal Victoria Place: 14 November to 24 December

Royal Victoria Place announced its 2026 grotto on 1 September. The Enchanted Cabin, run by Once Upon a Wish Events, gives a personal meet and greet with Father Christmas guided by his elves, and runs 14 November to 24 December. Tickets from £15 per child, including a gift the child chooses (Royal Victoria Place).

That 14 November start is worth noting: it is the Saturday, and grottoes here have opened on switch-on weekend before.

Christmas at Bedgebury: 20 November to 31 December

Forestry England has the fullest 2026 listing of anything in the borough. The illuminated trail at Bedgebury National Pinetum near Goudhurst runs on selected evenings from Friday 20 November to Thursday 31 December 2026, with a new Laser Garden alongside the returning Christmas Cathedral (Forestry England).

Trail dates are:

  • Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November
  • Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November
  • Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 December
  • Wednesday 9 to Thursday 24 December
  • Saturday 26 to Thursday 31 December

Entry is timed, generally every 15 minutes between 4pm and 8.15pm, and advance booking is essential. Prices, booking fees included:

Off peak tickets are on selected midweek dates. Parking is £10 a car and must be booked in advance, which is the charge people most often miss. Forestry England members get one free parking space if they book the “car parking (members)” ticket, and no other parking ticket carries the offer. Infant and personal assistant places are free but must be booked alongside a full price ticket.

The Polar Express is back at Spa Valley

The Polar Express train ride returns to Spa Valley Railway at Tunbridge Wells West for 2026. The operator, PNP Events, confirms the return on its own booking site and says more than 45,000 guests travelled last season, but it does not publish the run’s dates on that page (Spa Valley Polar Express). Visit Tunbridge Wells lists it as 7 November to 30 December. Check the booking site before planning around those dates.

The trap: two council-run sites still show 2025

Two pages the search engines like are stale, and both will hand you last year’s Christmas.

  • festivetw.com, the borough council’s own festive site, still says the ice rink opens “Friday 5th December 2025” and still names Sleeping Beauty as the Assembly Hall pantomime. The 2026 show is Cinderella.
  • The Visit Tunbridge Wells Christmas page mixes years. Alongside genuine 2026 lines it carries the stale “15 November” switch-on, “Christmas at The Pantiles various dates 16/11 to 24/12/25”, a Bewl Water description written for 2025, and a pantomime billing for Sleeping Beauty running 13 to 31 December, none of which matches this year.

Parking and getting in

The switch-on and the markets are all within a few minutes’ walk of each other, between Royal Victoria Place, Calverley Precinct and The Pantiles. Town-centre car parks fill on market Saturdays.
