Tunbridge Wells Cricket Club's women won the Kent Women's Cricket League Premiership final by 106 runs, after topping the table by 37 points and losing twice all summer.

It was the end of a dominant summer. The side finished top of the Premiership table 37 points clear, and lost only two games all season. That put them in the finals day, where the top two in each division meet to decide the county champions.

How the final went

Tunbridge Wells batted first and made 246 for 6 from their 40 overs. Their top scorer made 69. Bexley were then bowled out for 140, with one Tunbridge Wells bowler taking 3 for 14.

Kent Cricket’s report names the players. We have not, because the club’s women’s side draws heavily on its girls’ section, which is for players under 18.

A section rebuilt from scratch

Kent Cricket says the club’s women’s and girls’ section was revived in 2010. It describes the side now as one of the top performing women’s club teams in the country, not just the county, competing for national titles set by the ECB.

The club’s own pages show how that has been built:

  • a girls’ section of around 120 members, with teams in the national T20 competitions at under 13, under 15 and under 19
  • girls’ teams entered every year in the Invicta Cricket League, where they mostly play boys’ sides
  • a Women’s XI entered this season in the Vitality National Club T20 as well as the Kent leagues

The club says its senior girls usually also play in the women’s leagues, and it calls them “an essential foundation stone” of the women’s section. That is why the league title and the girls’ programme are, in practice, the same story.

The club’s home is the Nevill Ground in Warwick Park.

Penshurst Park took the second division

The day’s other final went to a near neighbour. Penshurst Park, whose village is in Sevenoaks district about six miles north west of Tunbridge Wells, won the Championship, the division below.

Penshurst Park only moved from softball to hardball cricket in 2024, and joined the league in 2025. It topped the Championship by 46 points with three defeats. In the final it made 186 all out. Holmesdale replied with 134 from their 30 overs. (Kent Cricket)

  • If your daughter wants to play, this is the club doing it at the top level locally. Girls in school years 2 to 13 can apply through the club’s youth membership page.
  • Women and older girls have a pathway. This season the club’s Women’s XI entered the Kent Women’s Premier, the Kent Women’s Development League and the Vitality National Club T20.
  • Watch next summer at the Nevill. The ground is in Warwick Park, TN2 5ES, and the club says on its news page that home games can be watched live on YouTube.
